I planned on riding over a distance of 570+ km to Bangalore via the NH7 from Hyderabad. With all the maps, gear, etc. in place, I just needed one more thing – a bike! My Pulsar DTS-i (Dec 2004) was not in a condition to travel that distance thus, I decided to approach a colleague who owns a R15. Once I hit the electric start at 6:30 am, I covered good ground. After 200km, I was nearing Kurnool where I stopped for a drink of water. I then started to head towards Ananthapur (350km) and crossed too many diversions and bridge constructions. The heat was getting to me and it was around 1 pm that I decided to stop and arrived for a break at Ananthapur.

By this time my shoulders and wrists were aching slightly and a little rest after offering prayers got me a bit revitalized. I then pushed myself and covered more ground. By 5:30 pm, I was in Karnataka. With a brief photo and video session, I got to Bangalore by 7 pm and my quest to find the hotel I had a room reserved in started. Later that night, the fatigue started getting to me. I kept looking at my kid’s snap on my phone and missed him dearly. That’s when I decided to head back the next morning and surprise everyone at home.

After hardly five hours of sleep, I was back on the saddle and on the road towards home. I actually had to pay an auto rickshaw driver to show me the way to the NH7. On the trip back, I took many stops to rest to my back, shoulders and wrists as I was not able to get used to the seating of the R15.

After a few rounds of photo shoots and admiring the scenery, I decided to really test the bike. To my surprise, I was burning good rubber and whacking 132km/h. I then crossed Kothakota and was about 100km from home. Now, I decided to cover the distance non-stop. With a deep sigh of relief, I looked back on the 24 hours I spent on road covering over 1100km.
