The Honda CBR 250R

Honda CBR 250 RedThe Honda CBR 250R is the latest entrant into the Bike India garage and, as was expected, a wrangle over who gets it first began upon its entry itself! The first few moments were spent in digesting the fact that a CBR was indeed our long-termer.

Then I, being the bloke responsible for performance test and comparison test of the CBR and Kawasaki Ninja for last month’s issue, got the keys first.

The CBR's actual long-term journey with us began in Mumbai where Honda folk handed over the bike to me and organised a road trip to coastal Kashid along with seven other journalists. With 350 km clocked within the first 24 hours of getting the bike, it was clear that this CBR was going to clock the maximum mileage during its term with us. A trip to Lavasa (Pune bikers' playground) and considerable city runabouts by everyone at the office helped the bike in clocking 1000 km within a week and the first service came up even before I could realise.

The CBR 250R has clocked over 2,000 km by now and it has impressed us on every front – an exciting commuter in the city, a fantastic companion on highways and decently sporty on the zigzags. With an efficiency of over 35 km per litre overall, the bike is friendly on the economy front too!
